One of Ireland’s leading ballad singers

Elle Marie O Dwyer hails from the village of Freemount in North Cork. She has been involved in the traditional singing scene from a young age and was lucky enough to be tutored by some of the greats of traditional singing- namely Deirdre Scanlan (Monagea) and Lena Bn. Uí Shé (Cork City). Elle Marie’s unique voice and her captivating traditional style have helped her to become one of the most recognised traditional singers of her generation.

Elle Marie has won many All Ireland titles in Fleadh Cheoil and Scór competitions. She has toured internationally with Comhaltas, performed in Áras an Uachtarán and sang the National Anthem in Croke Park. Elle Marie released her debut album “Where the Allow Waters Flow” in August 2012, followed by “A Roving Heart” in 2014. Since then, she has found herself to be a very busy lady. She has had the privilege of performing on stage with renowned group, The High Kings. In Dublin, Elle Marie performed in the series of concerts, The Steeple Sessions on Stephen’s Green. She has made guest appearances in The National Folk Theatre of Ireland, Siamsa Tíre., performed live on RTÉ radio and television and on Irish language TV station, TG4. In more recent times, Elle Marie has performed with Seán Keane, Cherish the Ladies, Maura O’ Connell and Don Stiffe to name a few.

Sell-out solo gigs nationwide prove that Elle Marie has made significant strides since arriving on the music scene. She continues to be in high demand to perform as special guest at singing clubs around the country, particularly in Clare where she feels right at home amongst the many friends she has made there over the last few years. Elle Marie is a recipient of the Gradam Seirbhíse from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann for her contribution to and promotion of Irish traditional singing at home and abroad. She is currently studying for a masters in Irish Traditional Music Performance and has been appointed as Traditional Singer in Residence in Clare by Clare County Council where she will travel the length and breadth of the county promoting traditional singing among young people.  In August 2016, she published a collection of songs entitled “The Next Generation- Traditional Songs for Young Singers”. The book, along with an accompanying CD consists of 16 slow and lively traditional songs suitable for young singers. The publication has been received very well by teachers, parents and children alike.

“Elle Marie O’ Dwyer is a true example of all that is best in the long and enduring story of Irish song.” Senator Labhrás O Murchú Ard-Stiúrthóir, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann
